PSOJ Press Briefing - MGI-Selected top 25 Communities for COVID19 Relief

The Mona GeoInformatics Institute (MGI) at the University of the West Indies Mona has been tasked with the responsibility to select the communities that will be provided with COVID-19 support across Jamaica. MGI’s Director, Dr. Parris Lyew-Ayee Jr has been working with the PSOJ, CVSS, JCF, JDF and other partners to ensure this initiative is a success.

This is part of the PSOJ COVID-19 JAMAICA RESPONSE FUND and its goal is to reach a total of JMD $250 million, to assist in Jamaica’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the press briefing Dr. Lyew-Ayee Jr presented on the top 25 communities in Jamaica that the PSOJ and CVSS will start with for the distribution of care packages. In in his presentation, he outlined the different parameters that were considered when the top 25 vulnerable communities were selected.
